Carolyn Colsant works in a variety of mediums but is known for her mixed media sculptures made from computer components. In converting discarded computers into art- thereby divesting these tools of their functionality- the conditions for the possibility of a new relationship is created between ourselves and our most indispensible object.
Colsant has worked in various mediums throughout her career and on the project Computers Are Useless since 2006, completing several commissions for private companies, currently on display in their respective corporate headquarters. Her work can also be seen in her studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
