My work is driven by chance operation, via rolling of dice and even though I make paintings, I am fixated on contemporary drawing techniques. Typically I work on found rejected papers and useless corporate check and large confidential envelopes.
Often the work pokes fun of culture through surreal and minimalist still lifes; and other times landscapes which are wrapped by surreal knot forms. I also make minimalist portraits of birds and people - mixing found images, and historic movements in Culture and fashion.
My work is slow and but not measured - evoking the layering of time and progressive thought. I make thin washes with saliva and pigments. Slowly I build up the layers.
I use all manner of pencils, graphite, charcoal, ink and water based pigments as well on my sketches and prep drawings.
Looking forward to going into detail in person at my Greenpoint studio.
