I make objects that are paintings. I paint stripes, spots and plaid, and focus on the details of those patterns: line, color, scale. These objects have dimension and physicality, and I love the material, the paint. The forms can be minimal, and I like minimalism, but I am not a minimalist. There is no narrative in these paintings, only visual frameworks. There is no progression to some end; every piece stands on its own. Every piece is about itself and its pattern and its details. These are stripes and spots, not paintings of stripes and spots. The goal is to evoke a response of visual pleasure.
