Artist Statement
In my current body of work, I explore the relationship between sound and visual imagery by creating paintings, drawings, installations, animations, and photographic works inspired by music. My current work is based on synesthesia, a neurological phenomenon in which an external stimulus causes a sensory reaction in two or more senses simultaneously. Based on the idea of the blending of the senses, I explore the process of translating music into visual art using color, line, mark-making, texture, shape and form to express the timbre of musical instruments and the pitch, notes, and tempo of musical compositions.
